One of the many facets of Los Angeles’ rich cultural history is the volatile hardcore scene that dominated the city’s landscape throughout the ‘80s. Babylon LA paid homage to this world in its SS16 collection, and it has continued to mine this source of influence in its newly unveiled Summer 2016 line. The line is comprised of T-shirts featuring an array of intricate graphics in the classically hardcore style. Some of the graphics are variations on imagery from the SS16 collection, such as the intriguing print of a woman in a bathing suit conversing with a dog. Others call to mind alternate staples of ‘80s culture, like the “Sexual Healing” logo which immediately calls Marvin Gaye to mind. And just in case you weren’t in enough of a summer mood already, the apparel comes to life in a gritty lookbook shot on the streets of Hollywood Blvd. Babylon LA’s Summer 2016 collection is on sale on the brand’s online store.
